Materials Required

* Children * Parents * 9 Chits with various aspects of the child written on it; school, household chores, relationships with siblings, extra-curricular activities, relationship with friends, personal habits etc.

Method

  • The game starts with each child coming up, picking up a chit.
  • Then the child tells something good about himself/ herself on that aspect. If it is a school, he/she could say how well he answers in class or how attentive he/she is in class.
  • Then the parent of the child comes up picks a chit and says something positive about the child on that aspect. If it is relationship with siblings it could be the child is a very understanding elder brother/sister, or he shares his/her things with ones siblings, or helps siblings with homework after he/she is done.
  • The game continues till the positive aspects of the child are enumerated by him and his parents.
  • It is suggested that both father and mother get chances to bring out the good points of their children.

How Does It Help:

* The child builds up self-confidence and self-esteem by positive thoughts both by himself/ herself and his/her parents. * He/she learns to view positive aspects of self and become a positive thinker. * The child feels good being praised by his/her parents, instead of the role of a discipliner always. * Inculcating positive thoughts brings about positive action, then positive results and self-development.

Conclusion

The child felt elated and said, " I am great, I am an achiever."
